Danielle Campbell

Anchor
News 12 Long Island

Millions of Long Islanders watch Danielle Campbell on New 12’s morning show or later in the day on her special segment, “Head of the Class.” As anchor, she goes beyond covering the news, making it a priority to report on what she calls, “the magic that teachers perform every day.”

Through her coverage of the education community, Campbell shares news of the great work of thousands of Long Island’s teachers and students. Those who nominated Campbell for the 澳门六合图库 “Education Partner” award said, “With so much negative press, Campbell is one of the few journalists who tells good news about extraordinary happenings that occur on a daily basis in classrooms across the region.” Campbell began her career at WNBC in Manhattan, and over the years, worked at almost every radio station on Long Island before joining News 12 Long Island. A bold reporter who enjoys covering stories about educators who make students “feel like they have a place in this world,” she has joined at-risk pre-schoolers on outdoor summer adventures and bravely entered the cockpit of a plane for a flight with a Barry Tech high school aviation student.

During her career, Campbell also has covered many breaking Long Island stories, including the Avianca and TWA plane crashes, the Tankleff murder case, and Katie Beers kidnapping. She also has shown her mettle reporting live from scenes of hurricanes, snow storms and wild fires.

Born and raised on Long Island, she is deeply concerned about the issues facing the region and said she “feels truly blessed to be able to work and live here.” Those who know her say she proves each day to listeners and viewers alike that she is a competent and thorough journalist “with a heart.”

Campbell has been honored by several organizations that benefit children, including the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and the Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, National Foundation for Human Potential and Parents for Megan’s Law.
