    KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

    Dr. Luvelle Brown

    Dr. Luvelle Brown has spent over 25 years cultivating a culture of love, liberation and belonging in schools and communities across the nation.  Since January 2011, he has served as Superintendent of the Ithaca City School District in New York state where student achievement has increased significantly.  Dr. Brown’s leadership has inspired and supported dozens of school leaders from his cabinet/leadership/mentorship programs as they have assumed superintendent and other executive leadership positions, most of whom are women and racial minority candidates.  Additionally, Dr. Brown has modeled and fostered loving skillsets and mindsets for numerous educators through his adjunct faculty work, facilitation of various professional development cohorts, leadership of the AASA Equity Cohort, mentorship in AASA aspiring superintendent programs and facilitation of the popular Equity Talks, a live webinar series that has attracted thousands of global educators seeking to cultivate equity and excellence. 

    Carol A. Dahir, Ed.D

    Carol A. Dahir, Ed.D., has recently retired as a professor and chair of the School Counseling Department at New York Institute of Technology and continues to teach part time at NYIT and NYU. She is a specialist in comprehensive school counseling program development, implementation, and evaluation. Carol Dahir is a past president of New York State School Counselor Association and served on the governing boards for the American School Counselor Association and the National Career Development Association. For more than 25 years, she has worked extensively with numerous state departments of education, large urban, suburban, and small school systems, school counselor associations, and national organizations as a consultant.  She continues to support NYS school counselors in the implementation of the new regulations. Carol has delivered more than 400 workshops in 48 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico as well as internationally in Turkey, Japan, and the Philippines,  assisting with developing comprehensive school counseling programs. Carol Dahir continues to focus her writing, research, and presentations on comprehensive school counseling program development, college and career readiness, accountability, principal-counselor relationships, cultural responsiveness, and continuous improvement for school counselors.
