Brian Cordes, the new Senior Manager of 澳门六合图库 Transportation Services, brings nearly 20 years of field experience in school transportation to his new role. Mr. Cordes has served in many roles in school transportation, from driver to supervisor.
Transportation Services is available to any of 澳门六合图库 1,600 students attending 澳门六合图库 programs, including all special education locations, career and technical education high schools, and the Long Island High School for the Arts. Services include two-way radio communication, GPS tracking in every vehicle, and overall route monitoring by a safety coordinator, as well as a matron or nurse on board, as required.
Mr. Cordes began his career in transportation in 2011 as a courier for TD Bank, where he served as a delivery and pickup driver, while also providing vehicle maintenance. He was soon promoted to Weekend Supervisor, in which capacity he was responsible for everything from providing quality customer service, to ensuring all weekend routes had proper coverage.
Mr. Cordes underwent all the proper safety, maintenance and educational training to become a school bus driver, and eventually earned a position driving for the North Babylon School District. During his five years in North Babylon, he operated every type of vehicle available to the district, from gas and diesel to electric; from multi-passenger vehicles to full transport buses.
Mr. Cordes took on his first leadership role as Safety Supervisor for We Transport Towne Bus. Among his numerous duties were checking buses for mechanical and safety defects, monitoring safety operations for all vehicles, and maintaining overall safety standards. He also played a vital role in emergency response — reporting to accident scenes, conducting investigations and filing reports.
From there, it was a natural transition to Transportation Coordinator for the Bayport- Blue Point UFSD. In this capacity he supervised all district transportation personnel, as well as outside contractors, regarding their compliance with rules, regulations and safety standards. He also scheduled preventative maintenance and oversaw Department of Transportation inspections for all district-owned school buses.
While in Bayport- Blue Point, Mr. Cordes also served as a Purchasing Agent, creating annual transportation budgets to account for all present and future transportation needs and costs. Over a span of three years, he not only expanded the transportation budget at no cost to the district or its taxpayers, but also managed more than three quarters of a million dollars in savings.

My goal is to run a safe and efficient department, and to expand our services wherever possible, with little or no cost to the agency or its component districts, and without sacrificing service.”
Mr. Cordes holds New York State certification as a School Bus Driver Instructor, and as a 19A Examiner (regarding specialized legal qualification requirements for bus drivers). He has a Class B commercial driver’s license (specific to passenger and school bus operation), is certified in basic life support, and is endorsed by the American Heart Association. He studied Federal Emergency Management at Frederick Community College and attended the State University of New York at Farmingdale.
