It is a highly effective short-term intervention for the lowest-achieving first grade students. The goal of Reading Recovery is to dramatically reduce the number of first grade students struggling in early literacy and to reduce the cost of these learners to the educational system. The U.S. department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse recognizes this intervention as the highest rated early intervention.
     

    Leveled Literacy Intervention for Grades K-8

    Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) is a small-group, supplementary literacy intervention designed to help teachers provide powerful, small-group instruction for the lowest achieving students. It is aligned with the Common Core Standards and works within the tiers of Response to Intervention.

    The intervention was designed by Irene Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell. The goal of LLI is to bring students to grade level achievement in reading and writing.
